Herro~

I guess I'll be blogging once in a while.

Well, about two months ago, I found out about a drawing/poster contest. The theme of the drawing is "The history and culture of the Los Angeles Asian and Pacific Islander American." It took me a while to finish mine; I actually finished it the DAY of the DEADLINE. So instead of mailing it, I went to the post office to buy a big envelope and dropped it off at the building myself. The winners are contacted through the phone. I was waiting for my call. After two days (of the day they said they will be calling people) I gave up waiting for the phonecall. I went to take a nap. I went downstairs and my dad asked me "Want to hear good news? Do you want to go to Little Tokyo?" and he informed me that the lady from the poster contest phoned us and let my family know I was one of the winners for the contest and the ceremony will be held in the Japanese American National Museum. The first date they chose for the ceremony was the same day of my AP Econ exam. I told them I couldn't make it. Apparently, they changed the date so I would be able to go. The second date ended up the same day as my panorama picture. But.....I was thinking of NOT taking the panorama if it meant I couldn't go to the ceremony. The people from the poster contest really wanted my classmates to come so they sent a bus. My teacher said none of the seniors can go since there's panorama and everything will be too difficult. Fortunately, it rained on that day and we ended up going to the ceremony... ON TIME! I was so happy. For the introduction, there were speakers such as Dante Basco (the voice of Zuko from Avatar the anime and Jake Long from the American Dragon)and Mayor Villaraigosa. When they presented the award, we (all divisions) all stood in order. They didnt tell us who was first place, second, or third. Apaprently, we were already standing in third, second, and first place. I was the very last person in line. I thought I was third place but when the mayor presented the award to the first two divisions starting with third place and ending with first, I figured I was first place. I was in the last division--6th division which is the 10th-12th graders. Each division has three-four winners (including honorable mention). After the mayor presented the award to the second place in my division, I was literally the only one left standing. My friends/schoolmates, who came (31 people, I believe), knew I was first place and already started cheering and shouting. At the beginning of the ceremony, Dante wanted to get the audience hyped up but they weren't. They clapped it died down. But because of this big group of high schoolers, it got things going. Anyway, so when they started screaming and cheering, Villraigosa (mayor) looked surprised and said something about how that's how it should've been in the beginning. I was happy to get first place. I have never gotten an award for being first place. After we took pictures of the winner, it was time to announce the grand prize--the best in show. We (the winners) stood by the stage holding our award and a bag of super heavy prizes. The lady told me to put my bag down and that she'll hold my award for me. I was thinking "...why only me?" since the second place girl in my division was walking away to her parents or someone. All of a sudden I hear that loud group (coughmyawesomelincolnpeoplecough) cheering and shouting. I hear the presenter finishing his sentence "--ly!!!" and I was wondering "...was that me? Why would my friends be cheering so super loudly and looking at me? No one else is walking up..." so I slowly walked toward the stage and I was presented with a huge check. Those check I've only seen in TV. They pulled down the sheet that covered my drawing and revealed a poster of each first place winner in each division and the best in show. I didnt think mine would be the best in show because the poster they covered was a vertical poster and my poster was horizontal. It turns out they put all the first place winners on that poster too. After taking pictures (so many flashessss), I got off the stage and some lady asked to interview me for a TV. It was so embarassing. I didn't expect that so I "bs-ed" my interview. I didn't know what I was saying at all. After the interview, a few people asked to get pictures with me and I was in a hurry since I had to go to the table with my grand-prize award (...which was literally a whole table of art supplies), get the check poster to my parents, give them my trophy thing and my bag of art supplies as first place. Then some guy with this super nice professional camera asks to get a picture with me, my friends, and my parents. After that, he wanted to take ap icture with me and the poster. Then the lady from disneyland (yay disneyland tickets~) wanted to take a picture and the guy from the TV station also came to get a picture. *_* I had ten minutes to feel like a celebrity being dragged around for pictures and interview... hahahaha! That's good enough~

I woke up the next day and was afraid everything that happened was a dream so I went to check if my prizes were still there. "ITS NOT A DREAM~~!!! YAYYY"
