My Boss My Hero

Just finished a new drama! It's about a 27 year old "dumbass" who wants to take over the gang but he's not smart. He can't do addition correctly and his father makes him go back to high school and pose as a 17 year old. If he can bring back a diploma by the end of the year, he can become the leader. He knows nothing about youth. He's born with gang blood and that's all he knows. His father is the boss of the gang, his brother is the "smart" type and doesn't really want to get involved in the gang business but we see that's going to change. The main guy constantly calls the students and school "crap" in his head. But eventually, he experiences friendship, love, heartbreak, failure, and everything. By the end of the drama... you guessed it... he grows as a person. He appreciates life. He understood what it meant to be young.

This drama makes me understand what it means to be young. To enjoy being surrounded by all these people whether they're your enemies or friends. To be thankful for school. School is where you learn to grow as a person.

Breathless

I went to sleep at 4 AM this morning. I don't even go sleep THAT late when it's school day (especially if I have a lot to do). It's actually my first time.

I was reading a manga and OMG, the guy was so amazing, hot, his personality will make you melt. I literally had to lean back in my seat away from the computer and breathe. My stomach went numb from holding in all the squeals. It's amazing. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

This is a pointless blog... but whatever :)

Renegade Fair

So the Renegade Fair took place at the cornfield. I knew about this from my cousin who was going to be there as a vendor. I wanted to find a way to help out, contribute, or advertise. Unfortunately, I didn't do much. On the first day, I waited for Jenn to park at my house and walk down together. I said hi to my cousin, walked around, got slushie, and Jenn wanted to go get her car at my house. I really didn't want to walk back up those death hill because I was going to go back to my cousin's booth anyway. But sigh... she didn't want to go alone so I walked up those two horrible hills with her. After that, she drove me back down. Around 7PM we started cleaning up and I needed a ride home. I was going to walk to the restaurant my parents were eating at but my cousin and her friend offered to drive me. By the time we got to my cousin's friend's car, my parents were done eating so he (cousin's friend) just dropped me off at home.

The next day, I thought I should help out... at least. So I get dropped off and I hang around the booth. I was very quiet because my cousin's three guys friend and her were joking and laughing and I don't know them very well. For those who actually know me... that doesn't even sound like me, huh? Haha. Two guys left so it was me, my cousin, and her friend. I was thirsty and wanted something cold. Her friend, Andy, kept singing Wedding Dress the whole time, which was funny. He kept saying how he wanted Honey Green Tea. In my mind, I really wanted Strawberry slush. Lollicup was really far but the drink made it worth the trip. So I bought two honey green tea for my cousin and her friend and got myself a strawberry slush. When I got back, I walked around to the book journal booth. It's so unique! They take old books and turn them into journals. I really wanted one. I didn't ask the guy how much it was yet. I was still looking around to see if there were some I like. The Dr. Seuss one was gone :( so I had to find something else. While I was looking, the guy was like "Hello friend," and I thought 'ugh.. what if he's going to ask me to fill out a survey or something like that.' It turns out he really needed to go to the restroom and asked if I can watch the booth for him, which I did. When he got back, he said if I found a book journal I like, I can just have it ^^ keke. And it turns out the journal is $13! I walked back to my cousin;s booth. When her friend left, it was just me and her, which meant I really have to help out. I'm not really good with customers and I work math very slow in my head. Luckily it was an hour or two before we pack up so there were only a few customers. If the prices were even, that makes it easier for me. Most people bought t-shirts which were $20 so I didn't need to work prices in my head. But if there was a price with a decimal.... LOL. Yong, Rey, Olga, and Roland stopped by and we chatted for a while. My cousin gave me a tote bag (of my favorite design from her) <33 for helping out, I guess? I really wish I did more :( but it really was a nice experience to work with the customers and also see how she does everything.

I'm in the car ride home. hm.. it wasnt the best family trip, i would say. It was extremely hotttt. there was a point where I walked outside alone in the onehundred and sixteen degree weather. i was actually looking for someone. the ground was so hot i couldnt walk. i could feel the heat going thru my shoes. i had to walk in the shade and stop indoors whenever i could.

so i was watching this one circus act and the guy was amazing. he had a super hot body. i would call him a flying angel. he was only wearing this white shiny pants and he was flying in the air holding only white sheets. if only he was a little younger, though. but omg... o.o the act was so cool

im using my bros phone so the battery is going to run out. peace.

I miss...

I miss those times I use to pop up on you and vent about everything. I miss those times I use to squeal and act all girlie with you, talking about certain people I see and run into . I feel like we've drifted apart. We've talked about this before... but the person we drifted away from was another friend. It wasn't us. I miss you telling me everything. I know the reason you may not tell me is because you don't trust me or you're afraid I might have something to say about it. Of course I do, but I'll lock it deep inside if I have to. I just want to talk to you like we used to. I just want to laugh at our random conversations again. Even when we talk... you're busy doing something and I know you can't help it. I miss you giving me advice. I miss you making me laugh. I miss texting you.

Orientation.

Monday-- A stuffy nose prevented me from going back to sleep at 5AM so I stayed awake. Apparently, my mom also couldn't go back to sleep so she watched TV. We were suppose to leave around 7-7:30 to orientation at UCR. I was hungry but I couldn't eat. I don't know why. I wasn't nervous or anything. So I threw my bag and my duffle bag (which I ran out to get last minute) into the car and we headed to aunt's shop so my dad could grab a cup of coffee. Then we were on our way to UCR. When I arrived, my parents told me to get the food they offered because I hadn't had anything to eat yet. I took a mini blueberry croissant which I gave to my dad after I couldn't finish the other half. My mom and dad stood and waited while I checked in. They gave me my folder and room key. I turned around the dorm area were about 10-20 orientation leaders (all UCR students- second years mostly) holding their big name sign and marching around and shouting cheers. I looked for my leader and there he was, Cameron! I was the first one there then another girl arrived. Cameron told us to put our stuff in the dorm. I had so much trouble unlocking the door. When I got in, I put my stuff down and waited for my roommate. Later, someone was trying to open the door so I opened it for them. The girl came in and we introduced ourselves. I told her, "I'll see you soon" as I walked out the room. Then another girl entered the same room and I stopped in my tracks, thinking, "there's three of us?" So I waited to see what happened. Apparently, the first girl that came in, the one I opened the door for, got the wrong room. This was my fault. So when I heard she got the wrong room and she walked out, I walked back in the room and introduced myself to my actual roommate--who said she wasn't going to stay. So yes... I had the room all to myself! I walked back out and we met everyone else in our group. Cameron taught us a few UCR cheers:

"DO YOU HAVE ENERGY?!"
"RAWR!!!!!!!!!!!"

"SHOW ME ENTHUSIASM!"
"AHHHHHHHHH!!"

"Whose side?!"
"R side!"

and a lottttttttttttt more.

So we had "cheer" or "spirit" battles with other groups. The winner gets the spirit stick. If a group wants the stick, they must challenge the group. We were the third group or so to get the stick. We played ice breakers, common ground, dances, and all sorts of stuff. We walked to lothian dining hall (which felt like a mile away beacuse we had to walk down a hill, cross the street, and walk up another hill). We had union rings that were the bomb, sandwich, ice cream, and some other stuff. For dinner we had "all you can eat" so me and S got sushi (twice). We played common ground where we all (about 200 of us) stood in a circle and they read out things that might apply to us. If it does, we step into the circle. There were so many personal questions and I didn';t expect people to step in on some. And what I definitely didn't expect were a lot of Asians. First the African Americans stepped in, then Latino, then Asians. I think there were more Asians than all the other ones. It was crazy. Then we had "camp" where we had dances, games, and some other stuff. It ended around 10 PM. That's when we were able to chose to go to the dance the hosted (loud music, etc.) or go back to our dorm and chill. I went back to finish my survey, ate some cookies, walked around, and went to bed. The bed was so high I had to actually climb up leg first like a little kid.

I woke up the next morning a few times. My dad called to make sure I woke up on time. I got dressed and met up with the group. We walked to lothian for breakfast (french toast, hash brown, sausage, and some other stuff). Then we walked miles to lecture hall again and got our registration lecture, which I almost fell asleep. We had presentatoins and what not. Registered for class, took ID pictures, hung out, etc. I really like the school. I think other than my elementary school, I might show some school spirit.

WHOSE SIDE?!
R SIDE!

2010, not the end.

Class of 2010 we are done. Now get out there and have some fun! Don't forget to strive for success. Just remember you're the best. Oh, also don't forget to smile. Make this summer worth while. This is from a girl oh so silly. Going by the name Bully--I mean Lily

Sigh.. today's graduation had it's downs and one of them was not really leaving. Kind of disappointed I can't really say I literally "walked the stage" because... we didn't. It was pretty unorganized. I don't know if it's due to the whole economy thing but... our decorations were not enough. What ever happened to banners, a balloon "bridge" or the "2010" balloon? Also, they should've brought us up on the stage and have us go up one by one with a gap between each person. This one was on the grass with the photographer and staff blocking the aisle for the crowd to take a picture of us. It was so crowded between the people shaking hands with the principal and the first row. And it would've been better if one person was walking the stage accepting the diploma and shaking the principal's hand--even though that's a bit time consuming but hey, it's OUR day.

After the graduation I went to pick up my diploma along with the other seniors. We had to exit a different direction and our parents had to "pick us up" at the OTHER side which was a very troublesome... process? I couldn't find my family, who had my camera, and people were leaving. I got pictures with some people from their camera but I was hoping I would get pictures with them with my camera but unfortunately I was late. I couldn't find Mrs. Kennedy or Mr. Zapata by the time I got my camera. I got a picture with Mr. Brewer, Mr. Martinez, Mr. Escobar, and Mr. Yom. My cousin, the photographer for the day, was dragged around (by me, heh) to take pictures. The caps were so annoying--even with the bobby pins. During the pictures I had to keep adjusting it. After taking pictures, we walked all the way to the parking lot and headed out for dinner. I kind of felt bad because some people wanted to "take me out for dinner" and my dad ended up paying and it was quite pricey. At that same place, I ran into Michael, Felix, Danny, Finny, and some other people. Anyway... yeah :\

And I'm sorry if it seemed like I left first. I was actually there for a long time. I was just wandering around the whole universe looking for my parents. I was bombarded with phone calls and texts asking where I was. I went crazy and wanted to scream. After what seemed about 20 minutes of finding my dad, it turns out he didn't have my camera and my cousin did. So he went back to fetch them. While he went to look for my family he had me wait in one area where I took pictures with some people and saw people I haven't seen for a while. By the time my dad came with the camera, everyone was gone :(

Anyway, we've made it this far. I thought I was going to shed a few tears because when I heard the graduation song during the voice ceremony, I fought back tears. I don't know. Maybe it's because it doesn't feel real. And don't think of this as a 'good bye.' It's simply a "I need a rest from your face. I'll see you later." Hah! Kidding! But yes, we will meet over the summer and definitely go karaoke-ing again! I had a blast that day. We'll go back and leave around 5 so I can confirm if karaoke boy works there, hah!

Summer

So summer started and technically I'm still a high school student since I haven't graduated. I will... this Thursday. So on Monday, I hung out with my close friends. I was making graduation "gifts" and I had two left to make before leaving to meet up with the group. I thought I wouldn't finish because there was an hour left and I couldn't finish in time. I remembered Dm telling me that N wasn't going to come so I thought I might have more time to finish Da's and Jo's. I did... but turns out N came and I felt bad not bringing/making hers. I originally planned to wrap it in tissue paper and write notes for them and give it to them on graduation but we can't carry anything during graduation and I thought it might be easier to give it to them early. Anyway, I thought I was late because I arrived around 11:40 or so. When walking into the plaza, Jenny was walking the opposite direction so we both walked to the restaurant which was pretty empty. We then went to the market and then bookstore. Then we were called to meet at the restaurant. When we went back, it was packed and we had to wait; we had no idea we had to sign in. After eating, we took some pictures then went to the arcade. Taiko, DDR, and pool. After that, we went to karaoke--which was pretty fun despite the fact that they didn't have the updated japanese/korean songs I wanted. When we went to pay, I didn't want to bother with the math (just like back at the restaurant). Thank goodness I was with calculus people, hah! Or... people who can divide correctly, haha. So while I was standing there--after contributing my money--a guy walks in. But since we (a group of 8 plus Dn's brother) were kind of blocking the entrance, the guy was waiting for us to finish. He was *_* and he looked like this one ulzzang... whose name I cannot remember. So I kept staring at him and he caught me. Our eyes met for three seconds then my friends finish paying and we leave. Inside I was screaming, "Nooo! Why couldn't we have left a minute later?" Well, we could have if we all joined Dn's brother in singing ABC (how cute is that kid?!). After the group left, I stayed back to wait for my dad. I went back into the arcade to find Jerry playing DDR. I joined him after he rested with his friends. When it was my time to leave, I went downstairs and passed the pizza booth where this guy had his back turned. From the back, he looked like karaoke boy. Anywayyyy, I would say that was a good day. I ordered rice at a ramen place, hah! Had lots of laughs at karaoke and on our way to the arcade.

Last Day

It is the last day of school but it doesn't feel like it. Today was the award ceremony, the one that was postponed due to the incident that happened at school last week. To think I should have been happy I got an award. I'm happy and proud of my fellow students and friends earning their medals, scholarships, and whatnot. But I felt bad and was worried. Worried that my brother, dad, and mom wouldn't think the medal I got was enough. Seeing the same person go up over and over. I was worried my family would ask, "How come you didn't get that? Didn't you apply for that too?" These two years, ever since I started taking AP classes, that's when I pulled myself together to try hard. But it wasn't hard enough. I wish I had an older silbing who pushed me, who scared me about college, college apps and everything. It wasn't until I filled out my college application when I was scared. I noticed even though I did community service, it wasn't enough. Even though I was on the principle's honor roll, it wasn't enough. Even though I took AP classes, it wasn't enough. Even though I tried to stay up late to study, it wasn't enough. NOTHING WAS ENOUGH. I knew my brother was insensitive. I knew he was going to be his arrogant self and make comments. I knew he was going to say, "Thats all? Just one medal for 3.5? That's so easy." But for someone who's only a freshman, who spends all his time on the computer and hasn't taken any AP classes or done community service, what does he know? I wanted to be that older sibling that helps him so he won't feel as little as I did around my friends and classmates. But I don't know how I could if he's so... I dont even know the word to describe him.

Graduation is on the 24th and I don't know if I'm ready. I just hope I am.

Sweats and blood, nothing is good enough.
Collapsing and gasping, you can't be tough.
Striving ahead, they're pulling you down.
You're getting nowhere, just going round and round.
Screams telling you to go back home.
Shouts reminding you you're alone.
Pull yourself together, it's your life.
Their words can't hurt you, so continue to fight.

Concert

(omg... I look so disgusting standing next to the girls. The one time I should've worn all black like I usually do -_-) I woke up this morning SORE. My whole body. Yesterday was the WG World Tour guest starring 2PM. At first, I was very upset because I bought the VIP ticket for $170 and was told that it consists of a meet and greet, a picture, an autograph, and a tour gift. All I got was one picture. They rushed us--one picture and we had to keep moving. I couldn't talk to them or ask them questions. BS. My friends who got the tickets for $7 got the concert, picture of one of the member when he was standing outside by himself, and autographs from the girls when they were walking toward their car. Anyway...

VIPs were told the meeting will take place around 5PM. After school, I went home to put my backpack away and grab my poster, ticket, glow sticks, and whatnot. Took a while to get to the House of Blues because of the traffic. Once I got out the car, a guy on a phone walked right passed me. I shut the door and stared at him thinking, "Pretty face. Make up. Familiar looking. Omg, is he from 2PM?" To be honest, I couldn't match the member's name and faces. I knew the members name. I knew their faces. I didn't know who was who except Taec and Nick. Anyway, so I just stood there and continued to watch him walking. My parents rolled down the window and asked, "Why are you still standing there? Aren't you going to get in line?" I pulled out my camera, pen, and notepad and pointed the the guy. "I think he's from the group!" I said. "Just go. I'll get in line later," I told my parents. When they drove off, I walked to House of Blues. I wasn't sure if it was the back entrance or the front entrance--I'm going to say it's the back because we all entered by the parking lot, which was down the hill. I stood by the back entrance because that's where the "guy" walked into. I saw two girls about to cross the street with me, I so I asked, "Isn't he a member?" and they said "Yes,__" and his name, which I didn't quite get. So for a while, I was the only one standing there taking a picture of him. He was standing on the porch talking on the phone. The fans were down the hill waiting in line and they didn't know he was standing on the porch. It was just me and Junsu a few . Then Myrna and Cathy arrived. Myrna was holding a bag of Sour Patch because she knew it was Junsu's favorite. I pointed to his direction because they didn't notice he was standing there. When they saw, they fangirled--but quietly. I told Myrna to take out the bag of candy and wave it for him to come get it. When I was holding the candy, I waved it back and forth and he saw. He knew he wanted to come get it. He smiled at us teasing him. I guess it was kind of pay back because he then walked over to us and I pulled the top of my pen out to get ready in case he came over to get the candy. Instead, he stopped about five feet away from us to continue talking on his phone. TEASE! He could've stood on the porch and talked on the phone but no, he crossed that mini bridge toward us and stopped a few feet away. "You're such a tease!" I said to him. He smiled to himself then walked back. I guess he was calling Oneway's Chance because Chance then arrived in a hummer in front of us. To be honest, I didn't even know who Chance was. I just kept staring at him sitting in the hummer waiting for Junsu. When Junsu came out, he was trying to unlock the gate of the entrance so I tried to help--and failed. When his manager or some staff got it unlocked, he walked passed us and Myrna handed him the candy. I wanted to ask him to sign but he was holding a soda can in each hand and I thought he wouldn't be able to. I wanted to hurt myself because I wasn't brave enough to ask him to sign that whole 20 minute I was with him--without any screaming group of fans. Instead, I stood there like an idiot. But like Maggie said, I was being considerate because he was on the phone.

After he left, I walked to the line with a new friend, Da Eun. She was also with Myrna, Cathy, and I when we were standing there waiting for Junsu to come get the candy. We stood in line with Antoinette, another friend I met a few months ago at a concert. We stood in line from four to six-ish. We got hungry so Toni (antoinette) went to buy some fries. We continued to wait and wait and talk to the girls in front of us--who became our new friends. I'm sorry, but I forgot their names. I remember one was Winnie because we exchanged emails. So I told Da Eun, Toni, and the three girls when we get to the meet and greet, pretend we don't know each other because if they find out we are in a group, they will only take one picture per group. So after I took the picture with the girls, I walked over to the guys. They were wild and loud; shouting and laughing. I had two cameras (just in case I ran out of batteries, which I did.) I wanted to use one to record and one to take pictures. But i was afraid of holding the other camera for recording because of the security, so I stuffed it in my bag. I regret it because the other girls did. I should've just kept it on and recoridng while it was in my bag so it would've caught the short conversation I had. Well, it was hardly a convo at all. When it was my turn for the picture, the guys greeted me with a "Hey!!!!" Then Taecyeon asked me, "Hey, how are you?" and I replied, "I'm good!" while handing the camera to the lady. Junsu, who I hoped would remember me from earlier--standing there waving the candy, said, "You good?" and I nodded and he raised his hand for a high five. After the picture, we went back outside to the VIP line to wait for the other people to finish with their meet and greet. While in line, some girls squealed and shouted "Taecyeon!!" Everyone looked up at the second floor because apparnetly, he was on his phone there. I missed him by a second. It seemed like Taec was taking a selca (self cam) of him and the crowd down below; he uploaded the picture on twitter and I saw myself on the corner. Anyway, when the concert started, I went deaf. I was literally standing right next to the speaker--and you know at concerts, the speakers are on full blast? I had no idea the speaker was right there. I could feel my whole body going "BOOM BOOM BOOM" and I felt the vibration throughout the body. School Gyrlz came out to perform and the crowd was pretty quiet. Once 2PM came out, everyone screamed. I waved my poster and glowstick in the air like an idiot. Keke, Junsu saw my glow stick and poster (it was the only one with light up flashing star) and came over. Then Taec came over. Nick, Taec, and I forgot who, were dancing sexily close to each other--FANSERVICE ANYONE-- and they were just making the crowd go crazy. After that, it was the Wonder girls turn. My god, they're so thin. Sunye's voice is so angelic. Lim, the "new" girl that filled in for Sunmi (who left the group so she can go to school), was sweet. A lot of people hated her because she wasn't as pretty and they didnt like her replacing Sunmi but I hope after the concert, they start to like her. I kind of liked her since the beginning but after the concert, I liked her even more. They performed together and solo. I remember Yubin performing "Boom Boom Pow," Sohee performing "Single Ladies," Lim performing "Lipgloss," and Sunye performing "Paparazzi." I don't remember what YeEun performed. Well, I don't know the name. I love Lim's intro for her solo. She came out introducing and talking about Sunye, Sohee, Yubin, and YeEun. "-- is the go-getter. --is sweet and talented and smart--" etc. Then it was her turn. "Now let me ask you. What chu know about me?" The crowd was thinking, I guess. Then she repeated "What chu know about me?" with attitude. Then the crowd knew where she was going. That's when the music for "Lipgloss" came on.

When the concert ended I stood by the bar with Da Eun. Then I spotted Toni standing with Rosie in the back. We talked and then Jennifer (writer from allkpop) came up to Rosie but she didn't notice me so I said hi to her and we hugged. After that, Da Eun, Toni, and I went outside where we bumped into Myrna and Cathy. We planned on waiting to see WG and 2PM come out. I told my dad the concert was going to end around 10. Then I called him and told him I'm not exactly sure when it finishes so he should wait until I call him. Instead, he arrived around 10 and that's when I was hanging out with Toni, Da Eun, Myrna, and Cathy--waiting for WG/2PM. I reminded him, "Aw, you're here alraedy? I told you I was going to call you. But yeah, the concert just finished." and he asked, "Then what are you doing?" And I told him I was waiting with my friends for the celebs to come out and he said, "Okay then. I'll give you a few more minutes, I'll wait." Then hung up. We were hanging at the front entrance. I suggested we go to the back entrance where we saw Junsu hanging out earlier and they thought 2pm wasn't going to come out from there so we continued waiting. We decided to break--half of us to the front and half of us at the back. Me and Cathy waited while Myrna, Toni, and Da Eun went to the back where we first saw Junsu. -_-; I suggested we go there first but they went there and had me wait in the front. Myrna then called Cathy and Cathy was like, "Let's walk. Hurry." So i followed her and it turned out that Myrna at the time was taking a picture and getting autograph with Chance who drove off in his limo. "I told you so! They're gonna come out from here!" I said. So we waited and then the boys eventually come out. Their manager/staff had securities block us. I held out my pen and notebook but they kept their head down and walked very fast to the van. -_-; I sohuld've had BOTH my notebook AND camera out to record. FML. After that, I saw my dad waiting for me (he caught me being a fangirl LOL) then we walked about two blocks to the car. About 30 minutes after I left, the girls came out and Myrna got Sunye's and YeEun's autograph. RAWRRR.

Okay, this is probably the longest entry I've ever written.

ASDFGH

RAWR. So I wrote a few sentences and I accidentally hit 'backspace.' Sigh. I wrote about how I'm in psychology first period at the moment and that I am annoyed, tired, and blah. Yes, I don't know how "blah" became and emotion but that's how I feel at the moment. I want to look forward to this week and the next because yearbook will be coming out. The next day there will be award ceremonies for senior. One at school and one at YUCA. The day after that there's the concert @ House of Blues. I really hope things work out but with my luck... pfft. I should be looking things up for my psychology project but I feel like my brain is going to explode!!!!

Fire drill soon.

Herro~

I guess I'll be blogging once in a while.

Well, about two months ago, I found out about a drawing/poster contest. The theme of the drawing is "The history and culture of the Los Angeles Asian and Pacific Islander American." It took me a while to finish mine; I actually finished it the DAY of the DEADLINE. So instead of mailing it, I went to the post office to buy a big envelope and dropped it off at the building myself. The winners are contacted through the phone. I was waiting for my call. After two days (of the day they said they will be calling people) I gave up waiting for the phonecall. I went to take a nap. I went downstairs and my dad asked me "Want to hear good news? Do you want to go to Little Tokyo?" and he informed me that the lady from the poster contest phoned us and let my family know I was one of the winners for the contest and the ceremony will be held in the Japanese American National Museum. The first date they chose for the ceremony was the same day of my AP Econ exam. I told them I couldn't make it. Apparently, they changed the date so I would be able to go. The second date ended up the same day as my panorama picture. But.....I was thinking of NOT taking the panorama if it meant I couldn't go to the ceremony. The people from the poster contest really wanted my classmates to come so they sent a bus. My teacher said none of the seniors can go since there's panorama and everything will be too difficult. Fortunately, it rained on that day and we ended up going to the ceremony... ON TIME! I was so happy. For the introduction, there were speakers such as Dante Basco (the voice of Zuko from Avatar the anime and Jake Long from the American Dragon)and Mayor Villaraigosa. When they presented the award, we (all divisions) all stood in order. They didnt tell us who was first place, second, or third. Apaprently, we were already standing in third, second, and first place. I was the very last person in line. I thought I was third place but when the mayor presented the award to the first two divisions starting with third place and ending with first, I figured I was first place. I was in the last division--6th division which is the 10th-12th graders. Each division has three-four winners (including honorable mention). After the mayor presented the award to the second place in my division, I was literally the only one left standing. My friends/schoolmates, who came (31 people, I believe), knew I was first place and already started cheering and shouting. At the beginning of the ceremony, Dante wanted to get the audience hyped up but they weren't. They clapped it died down. But because of this big group of high schoolers, it got things going. Anyway, so when they started screaming and cheering, Villraigosa (mayor) looked surprised and said something about how that's how it should've been in the beginning. I was happy to get first place. I have never gotten an award for being first place. After we took pictures of the winner, it was time to announce the grand prize--the best in show. We (the winners) stood by the stage holding our award and a bag of super heavy prizes. The lady told me to put my bag down and that she'll hold my award for me. I was thinking "...why only me?" since the second place girl in my division was walking away to her parents or someone. All of a sudden I hear that loud group (coughmyawesomelincolnpeoplecough) cheering and shouting. I hear the presenter finishing his sentence "--ly!!!" and I was wondering "...was that me? Why would my friends be cheering so super loudly and looking at me? No one else is walking up..." so I slowly walked toward the stage and I was presented with a huge check. Those check I've only seen in TV. They pulled down the sheet that covered my drawing and revealed a poster of each first place winner in each division and the best in show. I didnt think mine would be the best in show because the poster they covered was a vertical poster and my poster was horizontal. It turns out they put all the first place winners on that poster too. After taking pictures (so many flashessss), I got off the stage and some lady asked to interview me for a TV. It was so embarassing. I didn't expect that so I "bs-ed" my interview. I didn't know what I was saying at all. After the interview, a few people asked to get pictures with me and I was in a hurry since I had to go to the table with my grand-prize award (...which was literally a whole table of art supplies), get the check poster to my parents, give them my trophy thing and my bag of art supplies as first place. Then some guy with this super nice professional camera asks to get a picture with me, my friends, and my parents. After that, he wanted to take ap icture with me and the poster. Then the lady from disneyland (yay disneyland tickets~) wanted to take a picture and the guy from the TV station also came to get a picture. *_* I had ten minutes to feel like a celebrity being dragged around for pictures and interview... hahahaha! That's good enough~

I woke up the next day and was afraid everything that happened was a dream so I went to check if my prizes were still there. "ITS NOT A DREAM~~!!! YAYYY"

Earthquake

So funny story.

Yesterday in fifth period, Jennifer, Binhuang, Danhong, and I were sitting around talking about college acceptances. Jenn and I were saying how we haven't gotten into UCI and we need to pray as much as we can for it. Go to temples, pray to ancestors, Buddah, etc. Binhuang joked that our prayers wont be answered if we ask too much and they'll go "Aish, so noisy! You disturbed my sleep, go away!" So last night... I prayed twice and I was answered by a 4.4 earthquake at 4 in the morning. I even had a dream about being accepted! It's as if I was answered with "In your dreams."

Happy Birthday Mr. Brewer!

So yesterday while I was on the fieldtrip, I got a text from Jiaying informing me about a surprise party for our AP English Lit teacher. The class was pretty empty (considering most of the students were on the fieldtrip). They planned out a "surprise party" and I let the others know through facebook (power of internet). For a last minute party, this worked out really well! I got names of people who were chipping in for the cake and told Hoang, who went to buy it. It was a beautiful cake. I had to hold on to it during second period. My drawing teacher wanted the strawberries (choco covered strawb) and kind of made a scene in class about the cake. Anyway, I thought of an idea before the whole surprise party thing. The night before, I was thinking... if we bring the food into class, he'll suspect something. So we might as well go in all at once. I IMed people and tagged people in facebook notes, notifying them to meet out on the school balcony. During nutrition, Marbella and Daisy were finishing up the ceviche (omg delicious <3) in Cardoza's class while I ran around looking for Olga and holding the cake. I stepped out onto the balcony and I was surprised--a lot of people were actually there. We had someone stand outside Brewer's class and directed everyone to the balcony without making it obvious. Nutrition was before class so it was a good thing. Instead of lining up and getting food, we were out at the balcony signing the birthday card and getting things ready. The bell rang but we didnt go in yet. We waited for EVERYONE in the class to come outside. I actually told only the people with food, but this was even better. The tardy bell rang and we got ready to go inside. I was in the front, holding the cake. We got inside to light the candle and saw Mr. Brewer wandering around the hall looking for us. That was the best part! He was looking around wondering "where'd my whole class go?...is it fourth period or something?" it was so funny. Too bad he wasn't in the class where we could've made a "surprised entrance." But this was good. We walked down the hall, the whole class singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. He literally backed away with his hands up in the air haha. I'm glad we were "the first class to celebrate" his birthday. We spent the rest of the period eating ceviche and cake instead of reading for Hamlet, haha. Yay! Happy birthday to the lucky "13" beanhead :P Apparently he was born on the 13th weighing 13 pounds with 13 people in the room. When the bell rang at the end, after he said "thank you," he joked "It's not actually my birthday, guys." Hahaha. Anyway, yay! Last minute surprise party was a success!

Fieldtrip

So on March 11, 2010, our econ class took a fieldtrip to the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown. We took the bus and since it was my first time on a public transportation, a lot of people were like "No way!" "Aw, you're growing up," "Ohmygosh, are you scared? There's hobos and it's very dirty" and other jokes. Our teacher sat in the back and then walked up to the front to talk to the bus driver. Then he came and stand next to my classmates and me. He looked down to talk to Helen, who was sitting in front of me and the lady sitting on the side kept looking at them, probably thinking "...why is that creep talking to a kid?" Haha. So when Lucy, friend sitting next to me, joked "Mister, Lily is scared and she's crying." I turned to her and said, "Shh, do we know him? Don't talk to strangers." Haha, but it was good. When we all got off the bus, we headed to FIDM, a fashion school before heading across the street to the FRB (since the tour hasn't started). We took pictures, walked around, did a "photshoot" and yeah. We headed to the FRB after and boy... I have to say... that's the most money I will ever see in my life. A football field size room with money inside. The room literally had scent of money. There were bags of moneys everywhere! After the tour we got a bag of shredded money and did a survey. After that, we walked to Macy's plaza to eat and I wandered around in circles about five times before getting my food. I didn't really know what to eat so I just got Cali rolls and an ice cream after that. Then we walked to MOCA (museum of contemporary arts) and if I wasn't interested in art, I would've been complaining the whole time. The rooms were sooo spacy with only an art work on the wall. It was quiet and some artwork were... weird. But hey, that's what makes it art. From a canvas of blue paint to a canvas with random lines. There were about ten to fifteen guards--one in each room. I would be bored if I were them. After MOCA, we walked to the bus stop. When the bus arrived, we all tried to fit but since there were other people there, only some of us could go in and the rest had to wait for the second bus. I was one of the people who had to wait for hte second bus. Well, it was a good day :)

Second blog in a day?

I was just re-reading letters from fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grades from my friends. I remember how I used to love writing and reading letters so much I asked my friends and even my brother to write me some! I have kept them until now and the box is overflowing. It's nice to pick out a random letter from the box, open it, and read it.

Anyway... so...

my friends and I use to talk (we still do) about how we don't have connections to anyone famous... or well... the ones we are fans of. It turns out I do have connections. It's just I am not fans of them. Who are the celebrities? They are Asian American [youtube] artists. There's Cathy Ngyen, Jennifer Chung, AJ Rafael, Legaci, Andrew Garcia (American Idol), Jenny Suk, and some other people. Turns out my cousins are friends with them! Pretty cool.

Uh... what else...

My econ teacher: "Do you know why Hello Kitty doesn't have a mouth? Because she speaks from the heart." And he points at his chest. This is after he says Hello Kitty doesnt have a mouth and she can't kiss, etc. Funny, funny. He has a hello kitty wallet (given to him by Marjee--his student) haha.

Okay... bye.

Rant

All right, so here is another rant. My morning didn't start off too well. Was I sad? No. Was I angry? Very. Why? Because I was called "white-washed" by my friends. Friends who should know that I am in no way white-washed. They say I am white washed because I don't know how to speak Chinese when I am. I really think you guys don't know the definition of someone who is white-washed. For your information, I cannot speak Mandarin or Cantonese but I can speak another Chinese dialect and I can speak khmer. I read mangas and even collect them. I watch dramas instead of those TV shows like "Gossip Girls" or "One Tree Hill" or whatever. I dislike those. I prefer cpop, jpop, and kpop over American songs most of the time and I hate rap. Many time, I prefer eating Asian food (Vietnamese food, Chinese food, and Thaif food specifically) over fattening American food such as steak, burgers, pizzas, fried chicken, etc. I dislike stores like Hollister and American Eagle (I have my reasons) and I love "fob" style (from Japan, Taiwan, Korea). Out of my cousins I am considered the "very Asian" one. Even my parents ask me why I am so into Asian stuff unlike everyone else.

White-washed is forgetting your own language and culture and tries to act like a white person to gain acceptance and completely forgotten their culture. Now tell me... what part of me makes me white-washed? At least I am proud to be Chinese instead of wishing I was Korean or Japanese or Thai or whatever.

Bye.

Lunar New Year

I should be reading for psychology and econ but instead, I am blogging. On Lunar New Year Eve, in the afternoon, I prayed for my grandmother and later in the evening, I headed to my uncle's house to pray for my great grandparents. My cousins and I played a game called "Game of Things" and it got very... disturbing? It's basically like "Scenes From a Hat" from Whose Lines is it Anyway. You draw a random card and on the card it has questions like "Things that make you go 'ahh'," "Things that you would not say to your grandmother," "Things that you wouldn't want to be allergic to," etc. and then the READER has to read everyone's answers out loud and everyone has to guess who wrote what. Unlike my cousins, I had to put "innocent" answers so in a way, it was easy for them to figure out which was mine. Lizzie, Jenn, Ivy, and "yall" might think, "What?! Lily? Innocent? Are you sure we're talking about the same person?" Anyway, that whole week, we went to my aunt's house and we did what any other Chinese family would do for Chinese New Year--eat and play cards!

I remember years ago we would spend Chinese New Year at my uncle's house in Solano (old house) and everyone would be in the living room. We'd sit in a circle playing cards and laughter echoed the whole room. The guys would be playing some kind of card game on the kitchen table and they would shout and scream (only because they were excited). All the kids would play eat, play cards, light firecrackers, throw pop-pops, etc. But now, those "kids" are in college (and some already graduated). This year's New Year seemed a bit... quiet and lonely. I like Lunar New Year because it's the only time the family could get together almost everyday for a week and just hang out.

This past weekend, I was at the Chinatown Lunar New Year Festival. On Saturday, I walked down with my brother and watched half of the parade (or maybe it was less than half) then I left by myself to the festival where I stopped by the YUCA booth. Then I walked around and saw Maggie helping out in the "Taste of Korea" tent and she asked me to go buy her food after I bought five bags of seaweed for myself. Hey, it was pretty cheap so why not? I asked Dennis and Trinh if they think they'll need a volunteer for Sunday second shift (since I need hours and I want to participate in the festival) to which they said sure (yes!). The stage for performers were super high! I spotted Yuqi, Lilly, Linda, and others watching "Legaci" performing so I stood with them and recorded the performance. They were really good! I looked around and spotted this guy watching the performance and girls went up to him to take pictures and such and I thought "hm, was he one of the performer?" and turns out he was. I didn't really know who he was but Steven mentioned his name and I checked him out on youtube and I love his covers.

The next day I got to volunteer. Trinh put me at the YUCA booth where I helped out with bracelet making and coloring. What was so cute is this little boy colored a drawing for me and Andy Le. After staying in that section for quite a while, someone from Taste of Korea asked Trinh for two volunteers and I volunteered to go because I was getting tired of staying in one place. Faith (another volunteer) and I followed her to the Taste of Korea tent and she explained that the two of us will be "bodyguards" for the Taste of Korea mascots (picture from top). At first, Faith and I thought WE were going to be the mascot, which would have been funny. Our job was to "talk" for the mascot. So when people would go up to take pictures with them and ask them question, WE have to answer for them and get those people to check out the Taste of Korea tent. We helped a lot of people take pictures with the mascots and even asked those hesitant people if they wanted to get a picture. I had a feeling they wanted to take a picture but didnt know if they could--I know that feeling--so I asked "would you like to take a picture with them?" And they quickly nodded and fished for their camera. Then I saw Nathan, Chris, and Phillip standing around so very stylish that they stood out (thats how I noticed them) and asked if they wanted to take a picture with the mascot. Either Nathan of Chris said "uh... sure" so I was waiting for them to take out their camera but they didn't have it with them. So one of them pointed to my camera and I said, "How am I suppose to send it to you?" And Chris said "Facebook!" So I took one of just the three of them and then I joined them (picture from top).

So after finishing up the "bodyguard" job, I returned to the YUCA booth and had to help out at the bracelet/coloring section again. I had no idea where the volunteers went because at one point it was only three volunteer left and then me. I was literally there alone at the YUCA tent. It went from about ten volunteer plus Dennis and Trinh to just me. After getting some slushie and crepe, Dennis and Trinh returned and was wondering where everyone went. Psh, well aren't they lucky to have me there (just kidding)? So it was 4PM and it was Jennifer Chung's time to perform. Since there were no kids at the bracelet/coloring table anymore, I asked Trinh if I could go get some pictures of Jennifer Chung and she said "sure" so I watched the performance for a while. After her performance, some YUCA people (so that's where you all went), went to take pictures with Seriously and Jennifer Chung. I popped out from behind the YUCA people and said hi to Jenn and told her "hey, I'm __'s cousin!" and she seemed surprise. "Oh my god, it's nice to meet you! I have to hug you" and I was thinking in my head "uh no... I have to hug you!" I never listened to her songs before except that day of the performance. One of her songs touched me and almost made me cry. After taking a picture with her and talking to her, I took pictures with Seriously. Then seeing that Chris and Joseph were wearing short sleeve, I asked if they were cold. Chris replied, "cool?" And I said, "no, cold." Then I realized he was joking when he said "cool? Yeah, I'm cool." And i responded with scoff, "you wish."

Anyway, my this is a long entry.
